Pug Bulldog Mixes

I read on the GCD Blog that they were going to be making calls to the new designers at 9:00 PST. I am three hours ahead than they are - so, at 12:00am, I had my phone right next to me! It got to be 12:00 and then 12:30 and still no call. I was definitely thinking that I was not chosen for the 2010 team. I had just sat down to eat some lunch and my phone rang with a number that I didn't know....I answered it and when I heard her say her name was Heidi, I was in absolute shock!!! I couldn't believe it! I was BEYOND thrilled and excited!!!!

Brooklyn

Little Brooklyn had a troublesome habit of escaping from her home in Ottawa, Ontario and hightailing it through the city streets.  Several times, she made her way into the hands of Ottawa animal control, who took her to the Ottawa Municipal Animal Shelter where municipal law required that she be held for three days prior to being surrendered for placement.  Each time, her owners came to bail out the little wanderer and bring her home.  And then, one day, they didn’t come.

Brooklyn found herself a ward of the Ottawa Humane Society, which has been providing a safe haven for sick, injured and homeless animals in Ottawa since 1888.  Brooklyn was evaluated for placement through the OHS’s Adoption Center - and failed…  If no other rescue group stepped in for Brooklyn, eternity was just a needle stick away.

Brooklyn’s Gallery

Fortunately for Brooklyn, the OHS staff - having decided that the little dog most closely resembled a French Bulldog and wanting to give her any possible opportunity to succeed that might be open to her - contacted the French Bulldog Rescue Network, which in turn contacted the French Bulldog Village.   With the assistance of volunteers from both groups working together, our little mixed minx made her way across the Canadian border and into New York state, and there she stuck!

Brooklyn has settled nicely in New York state with a loving foster family and two canine foster siblings to teach her how to behave appropriately around both people and dogs.  While we are still debating what exactly she might be mixed with (Pug, Chihuahua, Dachshund?), we are 100 percent certain that, whatever else she might be, there is a lot of Frenchie in the mix!

Since Brooklyn has been in her foster home, all reports have been good.  This little girl has turned out to be a love bug.  Nothing makes Brooklyn happier than playing with her canine foster siblings, and keeping her foster family entertained. Her greatest joy in life is to play, with whom or with what is irrelevant - give this girl another dog, or a toy, or a person to play with, and she is satisfied.

We hope that, with a little help from all of her new friends, Brooklyn, former runaway and temperament assessment reject, will mature into a great companion!

If you have a few dollars to spare for Brooklyn, she would certainly love a new fluffy bed and some brand new toys to celebrate her first Christmas in New York, but she would be happy to give those up so that FBVillage will continue to have the funds to save other little French Bulldogs and French Bulldog mixes that might find themselves in the same predicament as she did.  A donation in any amount, no matter how small, is much needed and very much appreciated. Just click on the donate button, and be sure to say it’s for Brooklyn. Thank you!!
